There were two especially bright stars in the sky. A friend of mine had been talking with them, presumably with a lot of delay. Maybe it wasn't really a two-way conversation, but maybe my friend had read through all the historical chat logs between our civilizations that had been growing over decades and now had a personal connection to the conversation.
One day the new messages stopped arriving, and one of the stars turned big and red. My friend was very upset and crying a lot.
Then I was at the star, having traveled back in time a bit. I was looking at some construction made of transparent blocks orbiting the star. Then I saw that they were adding these blocks all the way around, forming a Dyson sphere.
I didn't see what happened next, but my theory was the dyson sphere held too much heat in, and that caused the star to go into red giant mode. Oops.
I was 'working' at my seldom-used office at work. The 'work' was unrelated to the company who owned the space, hence the quotes. More like fooling around on projects vaguely related to another job while listening to music. My office was an interior room with no windows to the outside, about 10 foot square, with carpet. It was dimly lit by a desk lamp, which is how I like it1. My desk was against the wall opposite the door.
I had been out running and was all sweaty, or had just showered, or something, because I decided it was a good time to take off all my clothes and dance around to the music that my computer was playing. The door was locked and I didn't share the room with anyone so it should be fine, even though it felt a little weird.
Sometimes I passed John Samuelson's office and said hi. It occurred to me that I might ask him if he needed a PHP programmer. But I didn't feel up to it today.
There was this thing about visiting the gods, and I think there were bugs in togas, like in the god home place in Hollow Knight. They would offer you tasks and then tell you that you could take various shortcuts or skip parts if you didn't feel like doing them, and this was, I suspected, a test. And that one passed by accepting the whole task, including the hard parts, and doing it properly.
I was in my parents' living room. Some man came to the door and took Mom out for a walk. Dad was taking a nap. This seemed a little odd, but I guess it's fine if different people take turns walking Mom.
I went into the kitchen and was standing by the orange chest o' drawers. A small speaker on top was playing music, and after I arrived started playing an EDM version of 'Grow Old With Me', sung by a guy with a 'twangy' voice that was almost annoying but worked well in this context. Or at least it was to the same tune as that song. The words were different, or at least there were a few additional verses at the beginning. It started out being about the gods that I had just been visiting, and then the second verse something something about 'the love of all things'. The beat was picking up. Standard house beat with a sharp, maybe-a-bit-too-loud hihat on every 8th note. The music and words stirred my emotions and I started crying.
Then I woke up and got out of bed before my alarm music started playing, which is a rare occurrence.
1 At least that's how I like it when working at night, which I don't do as much these days. I could see it being problematic, especially in an office with no windows, and especially if I know that it's bright and sunny outside. Maybe I should switch to bright lighting and/or bigger windows.
