Tech Bro Show, Trip to Home Depot - 2024-08-26 - TOGoS's Journal

I was watching some docudrama about a company run by these two startup bros. They were making people work 8 hour shifts over the weekend. A scene showed the employees all standing in transparent shower stalls squeezing squashes or something. It looked like very hard and annoying work.

One of the programmers said to the boss "You have to learn to program; I'm just at a new place", as if to say that this was all the same old stuff he already knew how to do but that the boss's job was going to be much harder.

The actor that played one of the bros got all pissy about something and blocked my access to the show, which was through the other bro's show-atching account.

So I had to go back to writing in my notebook. I had a maze drawn across multiple pages. Recently I had started shading the interior of the walls. Parts of the maze on earlier pages didn't have that, so I was adding the shading, now.

I was telling Marilla that it's useful to own a bunch of houses all over town so that if you need to crash you have somewhere nearby.

Fizz sent me this report:

Here is a dece dream:

Going to Home Depot

You and I were biking from your house to home depot. Happenstance put me in front of you, and I was trying to take the route all cool. We took that back way, behind sub zero, and I was negotiating all the strange turns, going through puddles, hoping you would find my path acceptable. But it was a lot more complicated than in real life. At a certain point, you went a different way, because you apparently knew a way that sort of cut in between the sub zero buildings, or something, but since I was still ahead of you, going the other way, I kept going. It had lots of parked cars and chainlink fences, and little ways you could go, but often there were, like, 2-foot drops built into the concrete layout, and I didn't wanna bike off those. Cars parked right up to those, which felt dangerous.

I got to a place where I had to go inside, without my bike. It was an office foyer type area. I went into some back nook aread, because I guess I had to change my shirt. So I was sort of hiding back there with no shirt, and a bunch of people came into the foyer. One guy came right up to the nook, and needed to fish around on a shelf which I was right in front of, because he needed his shaving stuff. Then one of the people turned out to be Igor, so as I was walking out, I was talking to him about a meeting we were going to have. That made me cool, so I was saved.
