I've been kinda depressed. It's hard to make myself sit at the computer even to do things I want to do, let alone to do work. Even my walks have been getting sort of boring, though I think the choice of audio may have something to do with it. The Two Towers is fine but I'm so familiar with the story that it just doesn't do too much for me.
Wednesday night I was out on a walk in very nice fresh rainy air, but really wanted to be 'hanging out'. Fizz's backyard firepit would have been great, but he was too tired.
On Thursday, in an effort to break the monotony, I (1) took my Ritalin before heading out on my walk, (2) switched back to Brisingr, which I have been listening to less often, specifically to make it last longer, (3) stopped at the Chocolate Shoppe for an ice cream cone, (4) walked a route that I had never walked before. The result was a very enjoyable walk.
Friday night Fizz and I went to see Infected Mushroom at Liquid, which we had only discovered last Saturday while out with Ben (I had walked there to meet them and spent much of the walk listening to Treebeard). Infected Mushroom was good, though very late for us. We thought they'd start at 9, since neither the event page nor our tickets said anything about openers. Live and don't learn. First guy was playing some steel drums. Which was okay for what that was. Next guy did some bass half time stuff, meh. Then a guy going by 'Misthyca' played, and he was alright, though his tracks all sounded similar. Progressive house / vocal trance kinda stuff.
When Infected Mushroom came on around midnight it suddenly got so fresh. Thw crowd was more into it than I have seen at any other EDM show. The first few drops were dope. They did the dubstep thing better than the dubstep guys who played before them.
Later we got tired and headaches and bailed at around 2AM. I took a benadryl when I got home and after absent-mindedly looking at Reddit for a few minutes went to bed. Didn't wake up until Saturday afternoon. Renee was calling me because we were supposed to be hanging out and I wasn't there, as I've been sleeping at the rents' while Dawne and Jason are in Atlanta.
Renee helped me deal with old computers for a while. Then it was time for me to go on an adventure with Dad to move Jon's car and also inflate its tire, which worked out alright. Renee's Amazon package had arrived so this gave her a reason to head home early to make sure it didn't get stolen.
Hard question for me now is: what to listen to while out walking tonight?
