I know folks get tired of hearing about my dreams, but this one's a doozie.
I lived in West Allis and I worked for the city fixing streets. And somehow I won tickets to a Brewers game. So I went. I took a bus to get there, and it was a pretty long drive. I got out at the stadium where there were several lines you could stand in. I went and stood in one. There was this girl standing in line right ahead of me and I started talking at her about how making Sims do homework is absolutely nothing like actually doing homework. She seemed to be getting annoyed. Her boyfriend was also annoyed that I had somehow gotten in line between them. I wondered how that had happened and started thinking about Sauerbraten.
Then Dad came in and sat on the couch so I moved downstairs.
There was this huge world that I had created and I was just now playtesting it. It went in a giant loop so I wasn't sure what was at the beginning and what was at the end. Sometimes it was like Sauerbraten and I'd be jumping around this intricately carved tunnel. Someteimes it was like a Final Fantasy game. There was one place (it always seemed to be midnight here. Always dark and scary) where you (and the rest of your party) would come to the top of a cliff. There were a couple of cables that went down into the valley below, and you were supposed to slide down them. I kept getting lost down there and didn't know what to do next. Finally I found that if I grabbed both cables and crossed them the right way as I was going down that that I could change direction to go more to the west (left looking out from the top of the cliff). We came to the bottom where there was a grassy path going east/west surrounded by corn fields or low bushes. We tried going more west and we came to an intersection, but we started getting shot at. There were these metal spikes flying by from the east, which at about this time we figured out was the direction we were actually supposed to be going. As we went the hail of spikes just got more and more intense. I asked my friend if we could start over from the top of the cliff, and she said that no, the only way you can restart is to get killed. Which looked like it was going to happen anyway. So we stood at the eastern end of this path behind a chain-link fence on the other side of which was another cliff leading into an even deeper valley. Whoever was shooting these spikes must be on the other side of the valley. While we were getting totally torn apart by these things, I was trying to figure out why I felt like I was actually getting hit with spikes since it was only a video game. By the time I died I had decided that I must be wearing some sort of pain suit to simulate this kind of thing.
After I died I had to go through a large section of the loop all over again, starting just before a place that resembled the area on top of the cliff before you slid down the cable(s). There was a big picnic going on. It might have been something to do with church (because Ma and Heather and even Elspeth were there), but I think it was actually some end-of-the-school-year party, like we used to have at ORE. One of the things thery were serving was tator tot casserole like from Glenview. I liked the tator tots but I didn't like all the meat and junk that was in there with them. So I spent some time picking out tator tots. I then, realizing that I had something I needed to finish at school, headed off to school which was just to the north of this picnic area and looked like Memorial on the outside and the Platteville campus on the inside. I went upstairs and was talking to my teacher about something. It seemed there was a series of lessons left and that I should show up at about this time for another few days even though the rest of the classes were done. So that was fine with me (apparently I liked this class) except I was worried that I'd forget. And then after the class was over I went running back toward Brockert with all my food and books in my arms.
And then I headed back to the picnic area and continued east on my journey. When I got to the cables, this time I only grabbed the one that would take me more eastward. And as soon as I got to the bottom I ran as fast as I could toward that fence and when I got there I climbed over and ran down this path to the bottom of the deeper valley. I got shot at a bit but I wasn't hurt too badly, and I was able to keep going.
I went into this warehouse-like building. Inside there was this big room that was all sectioned off with fences and catwalks, and I had to find my way through to get to this door that was at the other end. Meanwhile the same people that were shooting spikes at me before were coming for me and I had to get out of this room before they came to it, and I was getting all sorts of rediculous calls for tech support. It took me a few tries (at the end of each but the last I either got shot or fell onto some razor wire) but I finally got through this place and went on to the next area, which was a long, fairly linear sauerbratenesque maze I had made. In some places it had windows where you could look out at the countryside.
This area was sort of the home base for people going around this loop. I met up with Fizz there and we talked about how some parts of this game were really hard and scary to go through. Namely the part where you had to go down the cables. I was still recieving tech support calls and getting a bit sick of it, and thinking that it was all some sort of joke. I was standing at this counter talking to someone behind this sheet of glass, like they were a teller at a bank, when suddenly they burst out at me "You're on Candid Camera!". I wasn't surprised at all, and probably dissapointed everyone with my 'yeah i know' expression.
I came out of my maze area and was outside. Holly's church was nearby. So I went on in and waited around for the service to start. Holly came in and I went over and started talking to her. She was pretty annoyed at first but I just kept going and eventually I guess she decided I wasn't so bad after all and we were friends again. But afterwards I kept seeing her hanging out with this big guy named "Kendin" (or something like that). Apparently he was her boyfriend (or something close to that). I was happy that she was talking to me but this guy just had to go. I didn't know what I was going to do but I really hated him.
Later I was outside and walking through the woods. Not so much walking as climbing. In these particular woods (which seemed to be at the north end of the big loop, coming after the church which came after my maze area) you got around by walking or climbing along these big thick branches that wove all through the woods. I wasn't planning to go around the loop again - I was just going out for a little walk with a few other people from church and planned to come right back. I kept thinking about stupid Kendin and what on earth I should do about him. Apparently I didn't come up with anything because when I came back all I could do was say "what's so great about you?". He didn't like me after that. So I asked Randy "what's so great about him?". I was just pissing everyone off. Holly and Kendin and someone else went off and I didn't know where to, so I sat around feeling bad.
But then these awful monsters started coming up out of pits by the walls. Randy and I had to team up and cast all sorts of fireball spells at them to make them all die. It was a lot like a battle from FF7.
And then I was watching that Star Wars movie again. Except it was more like LoTR than Star Wars, and I was in it just as much as I was watching it, though I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to what was going on in the movie. I was still looking for Holly, Kendin, and other person. I came to this canyon area that was important to the movie, but that wasn't being used at the moment. There was this witch telling me about a spell you could learn that would allow you to travel through the 4th dimension. It sounded scary to me. I didn't want anything to do with it. This all seemed to take place in an area on the interior of the main loop, near the church. Actually there was a bridge going over the canyon that I thought you would normally go over while walking through those woods.
Not having any luck finding folks, I went home and was about to go to sleep in my bed. But this friend of mine was standing nearby and was telling me that he was getting some really weird radio signals. They were going way up and down in frequency like he said he didn't know was possible. I walked into the box room and looked over toward the back door. There were what appeared to black silhouettes of 3 people sitting on the floor. I walked over and started to say "come on guys I want to haannngggg oooouuutttt wwwwiiiit---" but my voice became very slow and low like a slowed down recording. And then the silhouettes faded and disappeared completely.
Well that was just great. They're travelling through the 4th dimension and I wasn't even invited.
Back to the area where I met that wizard, it was now becoming a WWII movie. The Nazis had this huge ship that they were taking along this river, coming after us. So we were running down the river trying to stay far enough ahead of them that there was a turn in the river or 2 between us. Then we ran through this little opening in the trees. I was carrying a stick with me and I threw it in the little pool water between the trees, as if that would stop the ship from coming through. I realized that was dumb but figured it couldn't hurt. But I was wasting valuable time. Now I was in this area where there was a grassy path about 30 feet wide that curved around. To the left there was a forest, and to the right there was a concrete wall. The wall was interesting because the main vertical part of it was STONE9, but there was a rim on it that was FLAT5_4. Airplanes started flying over and I realized they had been launched by that big ship to come kill me. So I started flying. I flew over the wall.
