Sara and I and some friends (maybe Becky and Ehren, or maybe Allison and Sardah) were camping at some kind of festival. The grounds were a large dusty area with a shelter with bathrooms and maybe some vendors in the middle. We had been camped at the east end, which was termed "Milwaukee port" or something like that, I guess because shipments to and from Milwaukee came from there.
We were mostly packed up and heading out, which meant crossing the grounds to the west, where we ran into and were trading supplies with Zee and her family in a place that was like a room at church, even though it made no sense for church to also be an area in a dusty field.
We had to head back to our campsite one last time to pick up some gear, and by the time we got there it was getting dark, and I looked to the northwest and saw all these lights scattered across a sandy expanse. Each light was someone's tent, and there was music playing in the distance, and I realized that there was much more to this festival than we had been aware of and we aborted the packing-up and walked towards the lit-up tent field along with other people who were going the same way.
Even though it had looked like just tents on sand, once we actually started walking that way I realized there were woods between us and the lit-up tents, and maybe between the tents, too. I guess it was just that at night you only saw the lights, not the trees, which were dark.
We eventually arrived at a place where there were connected 3 or 4-story buildings on the east side of the path, full of balconies and lights and people (the balconies all stuck out at different places and that made it hard to judge exactly how many stories the buildings had). We rode a train along a straight, flat ridge to the west. To the south of the tracks, in a valley between the grounds where we had been earlier and the tracks ridge, there was a plain with giraffes. Oh right, because the Milwaukee Zoo is that way? Before I could finish that thought, the train had stopped and there was this band climbing off to set up next to the tracks by the giraffe field. Maybe it was Weezer or OK Go or suchlike, because they had a guy with thick-rimmed glasses and tt the kind of stunt one of those hipster bands would do.
There was something going on in a tunnel underneat the tracks (something about someone trying on a dress or something boring like that), so maybe I had gotten off the train and walked back to the building to the east in that tunnel. There was music playing and I was trying to figure out from where. I wandered around in the building and found maybe a clothes store but didn't find where the music was coming from. Finally I asked some guy who then told me that actually there are multiple bands playing on different parts of the roof. I guessed that the different balconies and terraces were designed so that you mostly only heard one band at a time, even though they were close together. One of them was making weird EOTO-like sounds, and I decided to go find them.
