I dreamt that I was sitting at my computer at work. In the dream it was still facing southeast, but in real life I turned it to face southeast into the room so I'd face the same direction as Simon and Jeff after getting back from my 5-day sickness last week, and so far I like the new location better better. I feel less cramped [up against the wall] and can see everyone. So anyway, in the dream I was sitting there after hours and was making some music and got the idea that I should make a Terragen video to go with it. I must have already had a world set up because I was planning out the scenes. There was a river and a gray sky and gray trees, and I was going to slide slowly sideways for a while, and then switch to some other shot, etc. I figured I could then run the renderer overnight while I went home.
In the next part of the dream I was walking to a restaurant on what felt like a northern corner between West Washington and some other road. I had a few coworkers and maybe some other friends along. Inside there were special napkins or a TV or something, and I was thinking about some old TV show, like maybe Gumby.
When I woke up I realized that making Terragen videos like that was unrealistic because TG2 takes so long to render anything. As I write this I am thinking about how to do some kind of layered shadowing in a TOGBrush2-like renderer by keeping track of the depth of the backsides of object that haven't yet had their shadows rendered.
