My more interesting/remembered dreams lately seem to be the ones I have after waking up the first time and then dozing off again to enjoy the cat's presence. The dreams I had this morning follow this pattern.
I dreamt that I had dug out a bunch of tunnels under my basement. Apparently I haven't been playing enough Minecraft, because when I realized how dark it was, my first thought was not to make a bunch of torches, but to string a lot of LEDs along the walls. I could use some microcontrollers to make them flash and stuff, oh yeah.
Then there was some kind of hippie party going on 'downtown'. I was playing the role of a reporter and during the party I was staying in the audiophile hotel, where every room had a wall full of speakers and a record player. The party involved crowds wandering the streets (which I sometimes joined) and possibly weed. At one point I was walking along a road past a parking lot and some stores with this black dude, and he was a little intimidating at first because I was saying something that I couldn't really make out, but then we spontaneously started singing the same song (don't remember what it was), and then it was OK.
There was this magical tree with a portal at the base that went to some kind of hell place. A bunch of stupid goth kids and hipsters walked into it. I watched the last one walk in, and afterwards he slowly turn around and became still (anyone who walked into this thing soon became completely paralyzed). His face twisted into this expression of terrible fear and sadness. "That poor guy", I thought, "but what did he expect?". Soon I was riding a dragon, flying down Paul Ave towards Annen. A dragon just like the hell people rode around on to distract themselves from the depressing fact that they were stuck hell for eternity. That's nice that they at least get to ride on dragons, I thought as I turned the corner. And then I thought about how to concentrate on the flight so as to stay in this part of the dream and not crash into stuff. I remember looking at the pavement passing under me, and then I think I went into the tunneling dream.
