I fell asleep on the basement couch because I was really tired at about 21:00 last night. I must've dreamt that whole time.
Maybe this dream was actually from the night before; I'm not sure. I was wandering around in this huge, snowy landscape with big rivers and mountains and ranger towers here and there. I was thinking about how cool this place was, but how it was unfortunate that you couldn't make larger landscapes with Sauerbraten. I saw another guy walking way down by a river, and I was yelling to him. I think I wanted to give him some CDs I had with me or something. And later I walked back up the mountain to my house...
My family lived in this house that was in a neighborhood almost like the real one, but not quite. We had cameras up on the roof so we could see all around. Which was helpful because we were always getting tornadoed and we'd have to go hide in the basement for a while. One time there was a tornado forming right over our house, but by the time it came to the ground it was across the street somewhere. Yay! I spent the rest of the dream trying to figure out where the cameras were that they could see over everything and not just get a picture of the side of someone's roof all the time.
Me and Fizz were out in front of the Meadowood shopping center in the middle of the night. We were robbing the bank. About half way through I realized that that was a really bad idea, but I think we managed to be real quiet and got away with it. A police car drove by so I made sure to walk by like I was just a regular dude.
I was running north on Gilbert towards Hammersley after this guy on roller skates that had just stolen something from Kwik Trip. And I caught him and brought him back to the store, where they were having some sort of party. And A-Day was there. There was this big inflatable man that everyone was looking at. You'd sit in his lap and he'd give you a back massage. So eventually I tried it out, and it felt pretty good.
Then this place sort of changed from being a Kwik Trip to being our house in Platteville. Fizz and I and the Bens were there, but so were a lot of other people that all lived there. I lived in a room off in a corner of the first floor, next to a closet, just like 110 Brockert. Fizz lived on the second floor, right above me and the closet. But it didn't stop there. The second floor had stairs going up even higher, to where the other folks mostly lived. I was wandering around in the basement. There was a stairway going down, and then another, into a second basement, and then another going back up to another part of the basement, and then back up to the first floor. I started telling Fizz how I thought this house was totally awesome. And he said "yeah but isn't it scary being in the room right next to the closet with the explosives?" and I was like "ooh yeah but you live right above them!". I layed down on the floor at a place where you could see the stairs going up a few floors and it looked really neat. I was looking through a camera trying to get a good picture of it, but I was waiting for some people to walk around up there to make it more interesting. I managed to get a pretty good picture just as some girl was falling down the steps.
Fizz and I went outside and started wandering around and I wondered how I had gotten to be out in Platteville, as I surely didn't bike out there again. And I wouldn't have wanted to drive, either. I don't think I ever figured it out. After walking for a while and talking about stuff we found ourselves on a bike path with a marsh on the right and woods on the left. We had no idea where we were or how we got here, but it was a cool place so we just kept walking. It went through a tunnel or something and came to another cool place. Eventually we got back to campus but it was a lot more hilly and woodsy and busy than the UW-Platt one. Fizz wandered off somwehere, but I saw andy sitting on a rock reading a book across a street, so I went down and talked to him.
I was flying around in what seemed to be some sauerbraten level. Someone had made a bunch of square funnels hanging from cliffs. And there were these railings that were made out of billboard sprites that changed a bit depending on what angle you were looking at them from, so they usually looked OK. I was thinking that I had made a railing like this out of spheres, but I only vaguely remembered doing that. Maybe someone else did and I was just looking at it? Nah, it definitely seemed like something I would do.
I heard that there was some fancy new lighting system for the pool at Memorial, and we were all supposed to come down and check it out. When I walked in they had it all turned on. There was a grid of tiles on the ceiling that could change color. When a light was supposed to be hitting it it got bright, otherwise it would be black. Supposedly they used 'the same technology as Doom 3' to calculate which tiles the light hit and which it didn't. It looked sort of dumb though, because between the black tiles they had the regular lights, which didn't change color. I thought the whole thing was really dumb, because this wasn't a video game, this was an actual swimming pool. If they want shadows, they should just shine the lights on it. But Aaron Hedges got up and started making a speech about how important stencil shadows were to the future of swimming pools. Meanwhile, I went to the other end of the room and sat down at this round table (but all the chairs by the table faced not to the table but out to the middle of the room so we could observe the new lights) next to Holly, who proceeded to pretty much completely ignore me. Some dudes also sat down at the table and wanted my spot. I guess there were some names engraved in the chairs or something. I didn't give up my spot, though. I just sat back and imagined watching saturn setting in the sky. Except as I imagined it it appeared as large as the sun or the moon. And then I was walking on a path that went along a ridge with a town on the left (where saturn was setting) and woods on the right. I kept walking along the path. Eventually I came to a part of the path where there were no trees to the west, so the setting sun shone right in my eyes and it was too bright, so I got off the path and walked in a school parking lot that was behind some trees to the right of the path until the path turned and I got back on. As I walked along another ridge where I could see way off to one side of the path, the sky was black even though the sun hadn't set, and I started to realize I was dreaming. I sort of grabbed the sun with my eyes and moved it right across the middle of the sky over to the other side. And then another sun showed up. For a little while I got stuck in this park where some guys tried to hit me with a hammer (I was being a mouse, there). But then I broke away and walked over another hill and then flew up into the sky. I watched thr earth fall away below except for this tower that seemed to go up forever. I landed on a ledge on the tower and started talking to a guy that wanted to trade NES ROMs.
