So once again I'm up at 4:40 in the morning because I can't sleep. It might have something to do with I slept until 3:00 this afternoon, after being interrupted by a guy from Dariy Queen calling about the application I filled in yesterday and he wants me to come in and get interviewed. And I'm coming in Thursday morning so I have to go to Dick's tomorrow (arr, I mean today) and buy stuff to shave with, because I think people that interview you like it if you don't have hair on your face, which I think is dumb but that's the way it is. Or maybe I won't shave because I'm not sure I really want to work at DQ in Platteville because I have a whole lot of other crap I need to be doing (like meeting with that guy about the Kitrek deal tomorrow morning while I would normally be in EE and about 5 million presentaions and other projects I need to prepare and give in the next 2 weeks) and I'd really rather go back to Madison for the summer than hang out in Platteville, the boringest place on earth, where I get to see Fizz and Abz get gross with eachother like Andy and Kayla used to. People thought I didn't like Kayla, but it was just that I didn't like what happened whenever she came over:
Andy and Kayla: *gross sounds* hey dan look how gross we are *grossness*
Anyway, I thought it'd be bad that I didn't wake up until 15:00 because that was when I was supposed to meet with my SE group. But none of them showed up until 4:30, anyway. So I sat there and read my new email from Krogman, the network administrator:
Daniel: Our intrusion protection systems have determined that you are currently running a process on the CSSE server IO that is running a dictionary attack against our primary web space. Please cease this process immediately. Please understand that the campus Acceptable Use Policy does not permit this type of network disruption.
I have notified Dr. Mohan Gill, Chair of CSSE, of your activities, and would request that you meet with him immediately to prevent your account(s) from being de-activated. Thank you for your cooperation.
So I took care of that and
eventually the other guys showed up and we I worked
on our Puff crap for a while (Andy wrote time logs and MowryJ looked
into some SRE tools for our presentation). And then MowryJ and I went
and got pizza and I ate mine while working in the EE lab trying to do
fancy things
with the VGA port on my UP2 board. Andy never showed up for that, as
he was still hanging out in Ulrich doing database stuff. After a bit
of e-mail correspondence we went back to the dorm and got to bed. And
then I couldn't sleep so I went for a walk.
One of the nice things about living in the dorms in Platteville is you're right out in the country. As in: the building you live in is the last one for so many miles in certain directions, and past that there's just the rugby field and a creek and forests and some cows. So when I wander outside on a misty night like this the 'misty spring morning' smell is almost overwhelming. That must be one of the most wonderful smells there is. Right up there with pheromo-you-know-whats. Reminds me of camping and going for bike rides.
So I wandered down to the rugby field and did cartwheels for a while. And then I wandered back up the hill towards Brockert and then decided I wanted to wander around some more so I went back down and across the river. And it started getting lightningy. Maybe I can sleep, now.
