After opening presents, I spent most of the day putting in a new hard drive on togos and installing linux on all my boxes. It turned out that Debian sucked, so I used RedHat 8, instead. I went around and installed it on all 3 of my boxes, deleting my WinXP partition in the process. Fell asleep on my couch waiting for Win2k to install (again). I was having a hard time getting togos-win to boot into Windows.
I had a pretty cool dream. After something to do with eating one of those fake hotdogs, I was in a long line of people pulling on a blue rope that had knots in it every couple feet. We were standing at the top of the hill at the corner of Raymond and Verona road, and we were pulling from the direction of Verona. This was supposedly a very long rope, and went to Platteville or something. Somehow this was Dune. I wondered how this was Dune, as it wasn't anything like I remembered the book or the movie, but someone told me that this was the real Dune. What I had read was just a rip-off sequel. That explained it. I thought that what was going on was much more awesome than what I had read, anyway. Something cool besides this rope-pulling thing must have happened that I forgot.
Then we were in our old house/castle. We were getting ready to move (to Arrakis?). I was looking around at stuff. Some pits in the floor that we used for something... And then we had crashed on some planet. There were these thugs that flew around in hovercraft and killed people. They would teleport them aboard, and then do something to them so that they came out all folded and dead.
I was with a bunch of friends, and one of these things came and got 2 or 3 of them. They came out all folded and dead. The rest of us scattered. I was hiding with one guy that looked like Mickey Mouse.
There were 2 guys that got teleported aboard... They were some sort of flower creatures. They were sitting on opposite sides of one of the baddies on a black, cushioned bench, and one of them friend attacked him. But they got caught and taken down a hall to the room in the back. They kept trying to escape, but eventually realized that there was no way out - they were stuck in there. The baddie that was with them turned on this vertical cirular machine that turned red in the middle, as if that was what he would use to kill them.
I was aboard with the Mickey Mouse guy. But the baddies hadn't noticed us, yet. But someone kept talking really loud. I kept trying to get him to shut up but the baddies heard us. They caught my friend and they probably killed him, but somehow I managed to escape back into the front room. I tried to jump through this square hole that had a block in the center, but ran into the sides, and had to 'wiggle' (as in LW before the per-pixel collision detection) for a while to get through. But then I was outside. I ran up this ridge and through a bunch of dense fur-tree like bushes and trees, so they couldn't see me any more. I jumped off the other side, into some more bushes, and kept running, and then jumped off another hill. I hid under a bush, and hoped they didn't care enough to come looking for me, because I hadn't had enough time to run very far. I could see under the bush I was next to, and could see the gap through the trees that I had come from. I realized that if I could see them, that they could see me. Then this dragon came through. I was confused... They weren't a dragon; they were in a little silver, rectangular hovercraft.
I woke up and didn't really want to move for a while. Win2k had, once again, failed to install. I did some stuff with fdisk and Win98 hoping it would fix the problem.
I was about to go to the Capital with Mom, Dawne, and the kids, but Jon showed up and invited me to go driving with him. Win2k installation was taking a long time to set up the filesystem (still didn't know if it would work when rebooted), so I went along with Jon we drove for a long time in his van. Actually I drove most of the way. Took a little while to get used to automatic transmission. We went to Cedar Rapids in Iowa. Delivered a computer part to a store in a mall. I went up a down escalator. Then we left, and it rained, and we washed the car and got gas, and it rained pretty hard and it was dark and I couldn't really see the road and as we approached Platteville the tires did some weird stuff and then Jon drove after we got to Belmont and we enjoyed the reflectors that were present on 151 because they made it so much easier to see the road.
I got back and Win2k had finally booted up. I've been installing drivers and software.
