I was staying in some hostel, but when I arrived there weren't any beds available, so I was using a different couch every night, as other people came in and out and occupied different rooms.
The last place I stayed was a room in the basement, but the house was on a hill and one end of this room had a door to the outside. It was a furnished room and several people were staying there. I was looking at a set of shelves along the wall by the door full of paper heads that people had made, modeled after themselves.
I climbed up the tree in the front yard. I used some new technique I had just discovered to get to higher branches than I could before. The squirrels of the tree were running up, trying to stay ahead of me, but I got so high that they ran out of places to run, and were hanging out in a big crowd.
I was playing a video game with YC. She had actually been practicing it for a while, so she was doing a bit better than me. It started out as a car driving game, and we were driving around some mountains and in and out of a little city, but later it turned into we were just on feet, sliding down this winding half-pipe (like Sonic 2, but smaller - you could see over the edge). There weren't many enemies in this game - mostly it was just about jumping over stuff as quickly as you could.
We had been going at this for several hours, and had gone through a few forks where we could pick which way to go. Whichever one we picked seemed to lead to another infinitely long course which we would wander through all kinds of different areas before finding another fork. One of them said it went to Milwaukee. It must be a long way from the start of that route to Milwaukee, I thought, because we hadn't been walking *that* long already.
Somewhere along there I died and had to start over at the beginning.
There was a house to the side of a road in one of the first areas that I went into, and I think we were planning to rent it after the people who were already there moved out. They were having a party in their basement, and Big John was there, and the ceiling was too low even for me to stand up under except in this one area with a hardwood floor. That would be a wicked place to have dance parties, I thought, and then I thought about telling them that they should move the furniture out of there into the neighboring area with a low ceiling since people'd be sitting down on it, anyway.
